We are happy to announce that Jessica Sammons has been selected as Volunteer West Virginia’s new Executive Director.
Jessica brings a deep commitment to serving her community and empowering others through her work. A proud graduate of West Virginia University (Master of Social Work) and West Virginia Wesleyan College (Bachelor of Arts), she has built a career centered on service, leadership, and collaboration.
Her professional journey began with AmeriCorps, where she discovered her passion for helping others and fostering community growth. She went on to serve as a Program Officer with Volunteer West Virginia, supporting statewide initiatives that encouraged volunteerism and civic engagement.
For the past decade, Jessica has contributed her expertise to West Virginia University, holding roles within WVU Extension, the Center for Excellence in Disabilities, and most recently, the Office of Research and Project Management. In each position, she has worked to strengthen programs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of West Virginians.
Jessica lives in South Charleston with her husband, Jason, and their three children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
We are excited for Jessica to lead Volunteer West Virginia into its next chapter. She will officially begin her role on December 1st.
Please join us in welcoming Jessica to the Volunteer West Virginia family!
