Governor's Service Awards
The Governor's Service Awards honors outstanding volunteerism and community service in West Virginia. The awards have been presented by Volunteer West Virginia since 1995.
Individuals and groups that are selected as recipients will be honored at a special ceremony on August 6th, 2026 at the Culture Center in Charleston. Any individual, organization, group, family, or business in West Virginia actively engaged in voluntary service benefiting the state may be nominated. Except for Lifetime Achievement, nominations must highlight significant activities occurring in 2025.
2026 Governor's Service Awards
Volunteer West Virginia is happy to announce that the following individuals and groups were nominated for the 2026 Governor's Service Awards. Congratulations to this year's recipients and to everyone else who was nominated. Your dedication, hard work, and commitment to service have not gone unnoticed, and it is an honor to recognize you for your outstanding contributions to your community. Your passion for serving others has helped to make our state a better place, and your efforts are truly appreciated. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to the nominators who poured their time, love, and energy into celebrating West Virginia's incredible volunteers.

Other Important Information
- Except for Lifetime Achievement, nominations must highlight significant activities occurring in the past year.
- No more than three nominations may be submitted by the same nominator.
- Decisions of the independent panel of judges are final.
- Volunteer West Virginia can not respond to queries about specific nominations.
- Posthumous nominations are not eligible.
- Individuals or groups that have received an award in the past ten years are not eligible for consideration.
- Employees and members of the board of Volunteer West Virginia and Office of the Governor are not eligible to receive an award and may not submit a nomination.
- Because the goal of the Governor's Service Awards is to recognize outstanding and extraordinary volunteer efforts, awards are not always given in all categories. More than one award may be given per category.
