Do you know a local organization that needs volunteers? Let them know about AmeriCorps NCCC!
AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a sister program to AmeriCorps State and National. The program provides
FREE teams of National Service Members who serve on projects for 3-8 weeks. Teams typically have 6-9 members who are 18-24 years old. You develop the project; they do the work.
All you have to provide is a place for them to sleep that has showers and access to a kitchen (like a church basement or camp cabins), training and materials, and supervision. All other expenses are paid through the federal program, they’ve even taken care of the background checks/fingerprinting, AND the teams come with their own transportation - a 15 passenger van!
How AmeriCorps NCCC Can Help
- Members can do outdoor work like fixing buildings, clearing trails, getting summer camps ready to open, planting gardens, etc. They can also work directly with clients or do special administrative tasks.
Who Can Apply
- Nonprofit and faith-based organizations, government entities (Federal, State, and Local), public schools and universities, and Native American Tribal Councils are eligible to apply. AmeriCorps NCCC members are from all over the US and the teams have been serving on short term projects in West Virginia for 25 years! In fact a team just finished a project earlier this month in Scott Depot, WV.
